Life and Death at The Chicago Marathon - (A Davey Classic) Timeout 43
Show Notes

To celebrate Dave's 20th Anniversary at ESPN, Ally expertly breaks down a classic story from the ESPN Archives. The Marathon of Their Lives ran in October 2013 on ESPN and is about the 26-mile marker of the Chicago Marathon where in the very same race, a fire-fighter from North Carolina collapsed and died and then, a few hours later and in the exact same spot, a mother who was running the marathon while nine months pregnant, went into labor and eventually gave birth. The award-winning story traces, and intertwines, the lives, the race and the ultimate fate of both runners: Will and Amber. It's a moving piece about the sometimes cruel, inexplicable balance of life that, for many years, Dave thought of as gut-wrenching and sad -- until Ally's unique perspective helped redefine it as a Tale of Two Strong Women.
